Cargo operation
KIA domestic cargo volume saw a growing tendency during the year of 1995 and 1997, but started to decline in 1998. The growth rate in 2000 was -2.8M, and in 2001 it dropped to -8.37M. On the international side, cargo volume has remained growing. In 2000, its growth rate climbed to 19.4M. Due to global economic recession in 2001, its growth rate dropped to -11.42M. As the import and export volumes of technological products are on the rise, the total cargo volume has grown considerably. Kaohsiung Storage located inside the Airport Cargo Terminal has been privatized in January 2000 and operated by TACT Logistics. The insufficiency of storage volume and parking lots is expected to be improved in the future by re-planning of the Cargo Terminal and parking areas. By expanding the merchandizing area, simplifying customs control, KIA expects to draw more international airlines and provide pluralistic high-quality service, shown as follows.
