Environmental Policy

Kaohsiung International Airport – Environmental Policy

 

Providing high quality services is an essential function of a sustainable civil aviation service, and we are committed to long-term efforts to this end. To face the challenges of tomorrow, our airport team will continue to focus on improving our hardware and software facilities. We will also adopt a more human-centered approach aimed at fulfilling the needs of our customers. Our target is "World class Flight Safety, First Class Customer Service".

 

  1. full compliance with government environmental legislation, stakeholder requirements and other related regulation;  
  2. implementation of an ISO 14064-certified Management System and ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System;  
  3. development, promotion and continuous support of an emission mitigation action plan to fulfill corporate responsibilities; 
  4. Implementation of energy saving measures in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, meeting the 1% annual greenhouse gas reduction target;  
  5. active encouragement of participation in environmental issues by every individual, reducing carbon emissions from daily life.

Kaohsiung International Airport (KIA) is a member of the Airports Council International (ACI) and has been concerned and implemented energy saving and carbon reduction initiatives for many years.

 

Furthermore, KIA has been participated in the Airport Carbon Accreditation program and became the first airport in Taiwan to merit the Level 3 ‘Optimization’ of ACA Certification in 2016.

To continue to implement the airport greenhouse gas reduction policy, reduce environmental pollution around the airport, and fulfill its social and global environmental responsibilities, KIA will continue to acquire the Level 3 ACA Certification by improving the technology and management related to carbon reduction. KIA also actively encourages Airlines and passengers to participate in the airport’s energy conservation and carbon reduction activities. KIA will strive to achieve the ideal goal of becoming a carbon-neutral airport.

Kaohsiung International Airport Joint Carbon Reduction Plan

Kaohsiung International Airport(KIA) upholds the conviction of energy saving and environment-friendly, inviting stakeholders in the airport to participate in carbon emission reduction work together for environmental sustainability.

 

Our mission:Reduce the airport-wide greenhouse gas emissions per unit workload year by year.

One workload is equal to one passenger or 100kg of cargo
